Day 03: Delhi - Haridwar - Rishikesh

Your Ganges tour begins from Haridwar. Once had breakfast, proceed to Haridwar (200 kms / 5 hrs.) by means of road or rail. A sacred city in north India, Haridwar is located at the bottom of the Shivalik hills. The river Ganges flows through Haridwar after descending from the mighty Himalayas. It is one of the most ancient Hindu cities and dates back to Tour Bokkingabout 1700 BC.

HaridwarThe most holy place in Haridwar is the Har-Ki-Puri, where people take a dip into the sacred river Ganges to wash themselves off their sins. In the afternoon, go around the holy city of Haridwar, touring the Har-Ki-Pauri, Mansa Devi Temple, Daksh Mahadev Temple and Sapt Rishi Ashram.

Go further north to Rishikesh (24 kms / 1 hrs) by means of road or rail. The holy river Ganga passes through three places in Rishikesh, where it flows through the last passage on the foothills of the Himalayas, and down to the plains. The first is the area around the renowned Laxman Jhoola, then comes the Muni Ji Reti (sands of the sages) where the wise spend time in devotion, mediation and yoga; and finally it is the ever expanding town of Rishikesh lying on the bank of the river Ganga. Together, the whole is called Rishikesh.

RishikeshYour pilgrimage India tour is incomplete without a visit to the sacred river, Ganges. Rishikesh is a major holy place in the Hindu tour of religious sites in India. It is closely linked with the epic Ramayana and also houses many important centres of Hindu religious thoughts and divinity. Later, in the evening, involve yourself in the Aarti at Triveni Ghat. Spend the night in the hotel.

Day 04: Rishikesh - Delhi

Having had breakfast, visit the Laksman Jhoola. It is a suspension bridge built across the holy river Ganges. Rishikesh is the gateway to the Himalayas and if one treads by the river Ganges it will lead you to the holy shrines of Badrinath and Kedarnath. Also, pay a visit to the Laxman Temple, Swargashram, Geeta Bhawan and Parmarth Niketan. In the afternoon, head back to Delhi by car or train. Stay the night at the hotel.
